Acrimony - Tumuli Shroomaroom Album Cover

After raising a few eyebrows via a competent debut album filled with budding promise, Acrimony proceeded to fashion one of the all-time classic stoner rock albums ever in 1996's mind-expanding and dimension-bending Tumuli Shroomaroom. Everything one could ask for from the genre's formative mid-'90s birth ritual -- sludgy classic rock grooves, corrosive acid/psych rock trips, epic space rock excursions, and pounding metallic aggression -- can be found here, allotted across nine songs of staggering creative breadth. - All Music Guide

Very underrated band. There were almost as good as Kyuss. Debut LP Hymns to the Stone.

Formed in Wales in 1991, Acrimony were one of the U.K.'s very best stoner rock bands, following in the desert trails simultaneously carved by American pioneers Kyuss with their powerful blend of Black Sabbath's heavy metal riffery, Hawkwind's space rock excursions, and Blue Cheer's fuzzed-out feedback psychedelics. - All Music

To balance such wild and burning disparities of influence takes immaculate skill, and the powerful-as-rampant-influenza stronghold of Philadelphia’s instrumental Stinking Lizaveta completely shit the competition. This is not a genre-hopping disparity (the band are defiantly evil and sludgy), but one of delivery. Jazz-inflected guitars dance wildly over muscular grinds of bass and drum, before crushing homophony arrives and unites them in purpose – you’re listening or dead. - popmusicology.wordpress.com

Stinking Lizaveta is a power trio from Philadelphia that plays heavy instrumental rock. MusicMight categorizes them as "doom jazz". The band gets its name from a character in the 1880 Russian novel The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky. - wikipedia

OK, these guys sound a lot like Sleep. A LOT. Actually, it would be more accurate to say that they sound a lot like Om, the post-Sleep power duo of Al Cisneros and Chris Hakius, 'cuz The Deep Blue do a similiar drone-chord pound over Tibetan chanting thing. Of course, The Deep Blue are a guitar, bass and drums trio, so the sound is more downtuned and crunchy and sludgy, but if there was ever a need to hear what Om would sound like as a full band, then The Deep Blue are here to serve. - myspace.com

SHRUM, the long-defunct side-project of late ACID BATH bassist Audie Pitre and drum programmer/keyboardist/vocalist Tomas Viator (DISINCARNATE, SUFFER).
Described as "a psychadelic, death metal mix of chaos," SHRUM used two bass players (with former JACKNIFE bassist Joseph J. Fontenot on second bass) and no guitarists. - metalunderground.com

Ufomammut - Godlike Snake Album Cover

The heaviest band in Italy.

UFOMAMMUT is what happens when Hawkwind and Electric Wizard fornicate within the cosmos and give birth to a celestial offspring. And Sons of Otis is the nanny. And Pink Floyd breastfeeds. This is aural HypnoTripDoom with Space-rock leanings. Godlike Snake is music for the head and not something that can be taken in sporadic listening. "Godlike Snake" is lava-lamp and good Buddha Thai fare. Maybe mushrooms. Acid for only the intrepid and only with a sitter. - hellridemusic.com
