Monarch and Birushanah have just announced plans to team up this spring for a two-week long European tour dubbed Distort Europe. The two-headed tour will kick off at Bordeaux’s Void muscic club on March 30, then hit more than a dozen cities across the continent, before closing out April 15 in Toulouse.

Endless Floods - II (2017)

I know December is supposed to be all about lights and happy times, but here's a band that is almost exactly the opposite. So this is the kind of thing you might like to hear on a foggy winter's day.

There are three of them, they call themselves Endless Floods and they've recorded an awesomely bleak and hard-hitting drone doom sophomore album which is sure to make waves everywhere when released on January 6. But until then you can listen to the record on their Bandcmp and on Cvlt Nation.

I discovered Endless Floods shortly after their debut album was released, but never really got into them. The sound on II is heavy, highly atmospheric, deeply dark and...really "pure", it's like these guys are playing a live jam session right in front of you. Either you love it or you hate it, and I'm starting to love it nowadays. These guys create an incredibly detailed wall of sound filled with sludge, doom, drone, ambient, noise and even some shoegaze-like elements. Mesmerizingly slow chord progressions and huge sounds create a compelling sonic landscape. But it may often surprise you with very pretty, relaxing melodies, which is a breath of fresh air after all the crushing heaviness.

Overall, this album is pretty amazing and Endless Floods is now probably one of the most unique and heavy French bands out there. This music is not for everybody, but give it a listen....it could become one of your favourite albums. Very highly recommended!

Khanate - Clean Hands Go Foul (2009)

Khanate (pronounced "khan-eight") formed in the year 2000 with the intention of setting new standards for pain and ugliness in the doom metal genre. Their songs are marked by dissonant, heavily down-tuned guitar/bass figures, extremely slow tempos, swarms of high-pitched feedback, and painfully shrieked vocals, making for a genuinely anguished and challenging listening experience -- put another way, their music is not for everybody. The quartet is headed up by guitarist Stephen O'Malley (Burning Witch, Thorr's Hammer, Sunn O)))) and bassist James Plotkin (OLD, Atomsmasher, etc.), two musicians whose reputations in the underground metal/experimental arenas precede them and can give listeners an idea of what to expect from the band. Rounding out the lineup are vocalist Alan Dubin (also formerly of OLD) and drummer Tim Wyskida. Burning Witch - Crippled Lucifer (1998)

Burning Witch formed on Capitol Hill, Seattle in early 1996. After the breakup of the doom/death band Thorr's Hammer in 1995, Stephen O'Malley, Greg Anderson and Jamie Sykes formed Burning Witch. The band then added G. Stuart Dahlquist and vocalist Edgy 59, rounding out their lineup. Anderson left the band before they had recorded any real Burning Witch songs to start the band Goatsnake. - wikipedia
