Great news for fans of The Hazytones – mark your calendars for April and May. Well... at least if you live somewhere near Canada, because The Hazytones continue to promote their much-praised self-titled debut album and have recently announced their Canadian tour dates. You can check out the dates below.

The Hazytones are a stoner rock group founded in 2015 in Montreal. The trio stuns the audience with their stage presence and intensity. Riff after riff, the group is known for their fat sound and heavy, overdriven saturation.

The band features the powerful voice and guitar playing of Mick Martel (former founding member of Madcooks), the accuracy of drummer Antoine St-Germain (current member of God Bless America) and the rigor of the bassist Frederic Couture (former founding member of Reckless Ride).

Stoner Mountain's Weekly Bandcamp Discoveries #2

Ready for a new portion of cool records? Once again, here are 11 records from over the past couple weeks, from French stoner metal to British black metal. As I mentioned last time, most of them deserve a separate review, but I just don't have the time to do that, so at least I can give'em some recognition. BTW. Árida - Despertar (2016)

Árida is a female-fronted power duo from Madrid, Spain. Despertar is their debut album and it was released as a digital download on November 28. The CD version was released December 23 via Nooirax Producciones. I have been listening to this album recently, especially if by 'recently' what I actually mean is 'every day since last two weeks, often multiple times in a row'. So, it's finally time to write the review.

Árida creates an intense atmosphere with mixing desert rock, alternative rock, and 90's riot grrrl styles to record ten dope songs featuring the explosive vocals and guitar playing of Sara Uve and the hard hitting drumming of Javi Puértolas. With a sound focused on energetic vocals and fast tempos, they manage to combine the grooviness of Dozer with the angriness of Heavens To Betsy and the catchiness of Le Tigre.

Despertar is a great album with powerful Spanish vocals that you will love immediately and put on repeat for weeks. Would recommend this one to anyone that's looking for a different yet familiar sound. This is just what I'd like to hear more often on the European desert rock scene. The Crystal Moth - Brainwasher Single (2016)

Brainwasher is the debut single by Perth heavy-psych five-piece The Crystal Moth. It was recorded at Blackbird Studios in Perth and released December 2, 2016. It's an over eight-minute proggy blues-rock jam with lots of vibrant Pink Floyd'esque moves. Fabulous tune and arrangement with a great sing a long vocal and a fantastic organ-driven groove. Can't say enough positive about it.

This gorgeous song show the guys getting off to a great start, that no doubt paves the way for more smashing songs. Get the track for as much as you feel like paying (free is even an option) on Bandcamp. Put on the headphones, go to your own lil world and sit back.

Deaf Radio - Alarm (2017)

I hope you guys have a valid passport, because we are staying in Greece just a little bit longer. Maybe even the whole week. The next Greek artist after Hazy Blue Something is Deaf Radio, a very promising quartet hailing from Athens. They're Greece's best young exponents of post-punk styled desert rock, or just as David Letterman would say - a wonderful rock 'n roll band.

Deaf Radio brings warmth to the harsh winter. Their debut album Alarm is full of infectious guitar hooks and some extremely ear-pleasing vocal harmonies, with a refreshing approach to constructing traditional stoner rock music. A mixture of early Queens of the Stone Age and Masters of Reality combined with a slightly post-punk vibe. This is just what I'd like to hear more often on stoner rock scene. The instruments are played well and the production is good without sounding over-produced. I don't think there is a need to review song after song, you just need to know that each song seems better than the last. Virtually no filler.

Overall, it's a great album and they rock out through the whole thing. I would recommend Alarm not only to the stoner rock lovers but also to fans of rock. They're certainly a band to follow, as we can tell from listening to their first album. It definitely made me a Deaf Radio fan!

La Iglesia Atomica - La Mala Viene Single / Demo (2016)

Apparently the band reunited after 20 years, but I don't know much about these guys. I was lucky to find the release on Bandcamp. There are three of them, they are from San Juan, Puerto Rico and they've just released a catchy as hell single called La Mala Viene.

Sung in Spanish, it has elements of stoner rock, blues rock and psychedelic. Their single is a name your own price download on bandcamp. Check it out below and as always support the band if you like it!

Voodoo Idol - Sense (2016)

The second band from Russia is Voodoo Idol, a refreshing alternative/stoner rock trio from Moscow. Sense is Voodoo Idol's first full-length album, released in September, the record consists of nine stunning tracks, in which the band manage to combine experimentation with various genres.

Voodoo Idol take inspiration from alternative rock, psychedelic, pop rock and of course, stoner rock, that gives us a perfect balance of heavy grooviness and an almost poppy catchiness. Alina Goldobina, the woman behind Voodoo Idol, has a knack for drifting melodies and soft, soothing singing. The rhythm section is tight, with a rolling bass and precise drumming. Songs like (Welcome to the) Vault, Ghost and Hell On Wheels are a great example of psychedelia and powerful rock, while songs like Those Signs Led, Hero and Tango show the band's softer, danceable side. I especially like the rolling bass, the stuttering drum beat.

Overall, Sense is full of shiny hooks and standout moments. It's a catchy album that you will love immediately and put on repeat for some time. Now let the music do the talking. Recommended!

De Marvells - Dark Love Single / Video

De Marvells is a four-piece project from southern Norway inspired by Tarantino's film scores, Hawkwind, The Savage Rose, The Allman Brothers, Nick Cave and PJ Harvey. When those worlds collide and become one, magic happens. The young quartet mixes bluesy guitar shredders with a heavy amount of grit evocative of alternative rock’s golden era in the ’90s and great vocals, with amazing and highly addictive results.

Dark Love is the first single off their forthcoming debut album and it is definitely a marker of good things to come from this band.

Fudge Tunnel - Creep Diets (1993)

Fudge Tunnel, the evil twin of Nirvana, never got enough recognition in my opinion. Their frontman Alex Newport (he was also in Nailbomb) is now a quite successful music producer. Either way, I think you should be pleased with this one.

Getting a full major-label deal didn't affect Fudge Tunnel any in terms of what they did -- Newport still handled production and so forth -- but whichever Sony executive figured they had a radio hit on their hands was probably on some expensive crack. The tight, stop-start riffs and screamed, shouted vocals probably meant visions of Helmet's success danced in the accountant's heads, but MTV didn't come calling. Regardless, for those already taken by the trio's blunt, brute way around metal, Creep Diets maybe had a calmer moment or two in comparison to Hate Songs, but otherwise cranked up the volume and sought to take no prisoners.

Opening track "Grey" gave a hint as to proceedings -- while most of the time it alternated between bass/drums/vocals verses and a crisp full band punch on the chorus, any accusations of Nirvana wannabe status were shredded by the massive go-to-hell solo pasted right in the middle. From there, the trio makes its way, and while things do sound great throughout, songwise there's not much variety -- hasn't hurt a lot of bands, perhaps, but in the end most listeners would want some sort of break. As a result, when Fudge Tunnel does try something different, it stands out -- the key song being "Don't Have Time for You." Smack dab in the middle of the album, it's a lazier lope of a song that still fits into the Fudge Tunnel approach (semi-buried vocals, upfront bass) that works despite not immediately beating in skulls, even with the fried ending. Jazzy drum fills on "Ten Percent" and the apparently Smashing Pumpkins-quoting "Face Down" give other hints of testing bounds. There's a definite sense of humor at play in any event -- why else name a particularly messy number "Tipper Gore"? - AllMusic

The Cyclist Conspiracy - Virility (Video)

The Cyclist Conspiracy annouce their second EP and share the new video!

Belgrade pscyhedelic rock 10-piece The Cyclist Conspiracy share their video for “Virility” and announce the release of their second EP. “Mashallan Plan: Virility” brings 5 brilliant, psychedelic pieces flirting with various range of genres - from heavy metal and krautrock, through traditional and world music to experimental and film music – weaving an epic story about the “quest for true spirituality in the End Times”.

The EP will be released by the British label Trashmouth (The Fat White Family, Meatraffle, Warmduscher) on December 9 and the chapter of “Mashallah Plan” will be closed during the 2017 with the sister EP “Mashallah Plan: Simurghbird”. Dax Riggs - Three Live Shows

I think it's time to post again something you can download. Since Dax (Acid Bath, Agents of Oblivion, Deadboy & the Elephantmen) is one of my favorite artists of all time, I would like to present to you this three, marvelous Dax Riggs concerts. Two acoustic, solo shows from 2003 and a show with his band from June 2007. I would say the quality is pretty is good. I hope you'll enjoy it.

Dax Riggs - Electric Comoland (2002)

As I mentioned before I have to catch up with some older requests, but let me make a small break for this one.

Electric Comoland is an old Dax Riggs (Acid Bath, Agents of Oblivion, Deadboy & the Elephantmen) bootleg which you can downlaod below.

Dax is one of my favorite artists of all time. Listening to his singing is an otherworldly experience. He is one of those artists that sounds absolutely amazing on disc, and even better live.

Electric Comoland is a collection of seven unreleased demos. Although the songs themselves are all strong compositions, the bootleg's quality varies wildly throughout. If the sound quality was more consistent, Electric Comoland would easily prove essential to any fan of Dax Riggs. Nonetheless, it's still worth have this one on your hard drive.

My favourite songs? Perfect Dreaming Skull, Momentarily Lost in Space and the excellent cover of Leonard Cohen's Tower of Song.

Shock Radar - Generator EP (2012)

Another day, another great request.

Shock Radar are an experimental, alternative/stoner rock band from New York, USA. The Generator EP is their newest release. The sound is classic but yet original. Actually, some of these songs sound like they could have come from Soundgarden's Superunknown or Down on the Upside recording sessions (which of course is a big compliment). Some highly recommended grooves, thanks to Lee for sharing this!
